Vladimir Propp’s 31 narrative functions

Vladimir Propp as well as making the 7 character type theory also made the 31 narrative functions theory which outlines the events of a film stating that even if a film does not feature all parts they will always appear in order.

The 31 parts are split into 4 spheres:

The 1st sphere, The Introduction

The 2nd sphere, The Story

The 3rd sphere, The Donor Sequence

The 4th sphere, The Hero’s Return
